The execution works for the expansion of the Vopak Terquimsa terminal have recently started in the Port of Tarragona, and are slated to last for a period of 10 months. The company's investment - of 14 million euros - will add 17,000 cubic meters of storage capacity, exceeding 450,000 cubic meters of capacity in Tarragona.
Vopak Terquimsa thus undertakes the third phase of the expansion of the concession at the Chemical Dock of the Tarragona port, coinciding with the company's 50th anniversary. This means expanding its capacity in the Port of Tarragona by 60,000 cubic meters in the last six years, with a total investment of 34.5 million euros. Eduardo Sañudo, CEO of Vopak Terquimsa assures that "we want to continue reinforcing our leading position in Tarragona" and adds "Tarragona is a strategic enclave at a European level when we talk about the storage of chemical products".
The commissioning of the 4 new tanks will generate new traffic in the Port of Tarragona. The new Vopak Terquimsa facility will have the latest advances in the automation of charging systems, thus increasing safety and efficiency levels. Eduardo Sañudo explained that "we have recently celebrated 100 days of work without security incidents and this is the most important thing for us, the safety of the people who work with us and those around us."

With 455,903 cubic meters of capacity at present, the Vopak Terquimsa facilities in Tarragona are the largest of the company, which also has another 213,000 cubic meters of storage capacity in the Port of Barcelona.
